Dr. Dan Counihan
Dan earned his
Consultant accreditation in 1983. He is a registered orthodontic specialist. His orthodontic training was at
University of Liverpool and University College Cork. He is a visiting lecturer to a number of universities and gives lectures at conferences both in Ireland and abroad. He is a member of the Orthodontic Society of Ireland , The American Association of Orthodontists, The European Orthodontic Society and the British Orthodontic Society. He has had a
private practice in Tralee since 1980.
Dr. Niamh McAuliffe
Niamh, a native of Castleisland, graduated with an honours degree from Cork Dental School in 2001, winning the Orthodontic Society of Ireland medal in her final year. Following her graduation she completed a year of vocational training in dentistry in Cavan/Monaghan. She then worked as a senior house officer for two years in South Wales at Cardiff Dental Hospital and Prince Charles Hospital spending time in a number of departments including the departments of restorative dentistry and periodontology, preventive and paediatric dentistry, and oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2003 she completed her Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery examinations with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Like myself, Niamh undertook her specialist orthodontic training at Liverpool University Dental Hospital, and she also worked in the orthodontic department at Halton General Hospital. She attained her Membership in Orthodontics with the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2007 and also achieved a distinction in her Master in Dental Science degree in orthodontics from the University of Liverpool in 2007. Niamh has published a number of papers in dental journals and has given presentations at dental and orthodontic conferences.
There are also about seven other staff members at the front desk, assisting chairside or in the lab producing state of the art appliances.
